The Government of India is now planning to make an operating system that will be completely made in India. By doing this, the government will give tough competition to Android and iOS. It is being said that for this the government can take help from India’s educational and startup ecosystem.
The government of India is making the operating system
The Minister of State, Ministry of Electronics and IT, Mr Rajiv Chandrasekhar has revealed this new operating system in a recent interview. The minister says that the government is trying to make a plan that will allow developing an ecosystem in which the industry can make an Indian operating system.
Android and iOS clash
When the Minister was asked whether this operating system would compete with Android and iOS, he said that India’s operating system should not be seen as a third option if it has the capability. Giving the example of Blackberry Symbian, the Minister said that if we can do it, then we can also prepare our operating system and launch it in the market.
For your information, let us tell you that the Prime Minister of the country, PM Narendra Modi, has a big goal for the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) behind the creation of this new operating system completely in India. According to Rajiv Chandrashekhar Ji, Prime Minister Narendra Mod wants to create domestic champions in every lading product category.
Also, let us tell you that on the hardware side, the government wants electronics manufacturing in India to reach Rs 22.5 lakh crore by the year 2026, while it is currently at five lakh crore.
