Kathmandu: Shaheen Shah Afridi‘s superb bowling and skipper Babar Azam and wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan’s excellent batting helped Pakistan to a historic victory over India in the T20 World Cup.
In their first match of the Super 12, Pakistan defeated arch-rivals India by 10 wickets. This is Pakistan’s first victory over India in any World Cup.
So far, India and Pakistan have met 13 times in the World Cup, which was dominated by India.
Pakistan completed India’s 152-run target in 17.5 overs without losing a wicket in Sharjah. Rizwan scored an unbeaten 78 off 55 balls with six fours and three sixes while captain Babar scored an unbeaten 68 off 52 balls with six fours and two sixes.
Earlier, losing the toss and batting first, India lost 7 wickets and scored 151 runs. India’s start was very bad. Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi bowled Rohit Sharma in the fourth ball of the first over and KL Rahul in the first ball of the third over.
After Surya Kumar Yadav also returned to the pavilion for 11 runs, India lost the third wicket for 31 runs. For him, captain Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant shared 53 runs. But Pant added 39 runs off 30 balls.
After that, the Indian batsman could not make a big partnership. Captain Kohli scored 57 runs off 49 balls with the help of 5 fours and 1 six. Rabindra Jadeja scored 13 runs and Hardik Pandey scored 11 runs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar 5 and Mohammad Shami remained unbeaten on zero.
