Kathmandu: Central Presidential candidate Sher Bahadur Deuba has failed to get the required majority. According to the Congress constitution, a majority of the total votes cast must be elected as the president.
In counting votes that ended on Sunday morning, presidential candidate Sher Bahadur Deuba could not get the required majority to get elected even though he got more votes than others. Although Deuba took the lead in counting votes from the very beginning, Deuba got only 2258 votes. He did not get 82 votes to be elected chairman. A total of 4,679 votes were cast in Sunday’s polls.
