Congress General Convention: Counting of votes of the Vice President, results to be announced by 10 pm

Kathmandu: The counting of votes for the 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress will start on Wednesday.

Senior Advocate Gopal Krishna Ghimire, Coordinator of the Election Committee, informed that the party is preparing to start counting votes for Deputy Chairman at Sanepa within an hour.

He said that only the deputy chairman would be counted today, and the general secretary would be counted tomorrow. The results of the vice-president are expected by 10 pm tonight.

He informed that the votes of the joint general secretary and the central member would be counted after the general secretary’s vote.

Last Monday, voting was held for the office bearers and central members, including the deputy chairman. All ballot papers are kept at the party office, Sanepa.

The counting of votes will take place in Sanepa. Vijay Kumar Gachchhadar, Purna Bahadur Khadka, Divyeshwari Shah, Sujata Koirala, Mahesh Acharya, Dhanraj Gurung, and Chandra Bhandari have nominated their candidates for the post. According to the Congress constitution, two vice presidents are elected from the general convention.

Earlier, Sher Bahadur Deuba was elected as the chairman. He defeated Dr. Shekhar Koirala in the second round of elections.
