India has successfully tested Agni P (Agni Prime), a new generation nuclear-capable ballistic missile. DRDO: Defense, Research and Development Organization tested the missile from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha, according to the Ministry of Defense. The first successful test was conducted from the same place on June 28 this year.
The missile ranges from 1,000 to 2,000 km and is a fire missile. Various telemetry, radar, electro-optical stations, and down-range ships monitored missile launches and parameters on the east coast. Considering this, the Ministry of Defense said, “This missile has met all objectives with a high level of accuracy.”

The missile has a two-stage canisterized solid-propellant ballistic system combined with dual navigation and guidance systems. This second flight test has proven the reliable performance of all the advanced technologies integrated into the system.
The missile weighs 50% less than the Agni III and is equipped with new guidance and a new-generation system. As the missile is canisterized, it can be launched by rail and road, stored for a long time, and transported across the country as per operational requirements.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO for the successful flight test and expressed happiness over the system’s excellent performance. Defense Department and DRDO Chairman G Satish Reddy lauded the team’s efforts for the second development flight test with many additional facilities. He wished them their success in the same year.
