India sends medical supplies to Afghanistan

The foreign ministry said that India sent medical supplies to Kabul on a return flight of Indians and Afghans deported from Afghanistan. The drugs will be given to the World Health Organization (WHO) representatives in Kabul.

“Given the challenging humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, the Indian government has sent a consignment of medical supplies on a return flight today,” the foreign ministry said in a statement.

The foreign ministry said that a particular flight on Friday brought 94 Afghans and 10 Indians, including members of the Hindu-Sikh minority community, from Afghanistan to the national capital as part of India’s Devi Shakti operation.

A total number of 669 people have been evacuated from Afghanistan under “Operation Goddess Shakti,” according to the ministry, including hundreds of Indians and Afghans. It also includes members of the Afghan Hindu / Sikh minority community. As many as 565 people, including 438 Indians, were deported from Afghanistan in early August 2021.
