‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ was off to a record start at the international box office and also managed to record an awesome first weekend in the Indian market.
According to the latest update on boxofficeindia.com, the Marvel superhero film earned an estimated Rs 12 crore net in four days. The film reportedly saw a 50% drop in collections on its first Monday as it collected Rs 1.50 crore till now.
This comes after the film had a good first weekend at the ticket windows where the film collected an estimated Rs 10.75 crore net. On Friday, the film earned Rs 3 crore approx and went on to earn Rs 3.5 crore on Saturday. It saw good growth on Sunday with a collection of Rs 4.5 crore.
Trade experts have predicted that the film may hit close to Rs 15.50 crore net by the end of week one.
Fast & Furious 9 has maintained a steady hold over the box office. The film that started out with a Rs 2 crore collection on Friday, earned an estimated Rs 1 crore on its first Monday. The drop in collections was around 40% as its dubbed versions are working better than ‘Shang-Chi’ in smaller centers.
The drop in Gujarat was just 25% from Friday. The total business of the film is 9 crore net and the film is expected to earn an estimated Rs 11.5-12 crore net by the end of the week.
Besides the lockdown restrictions and theatres running at half capacity, piracy has also hit the English film releases. According to reports, the films have been leaked on pirated websites, which is cited as one of the reasons why the dubbed versions have performed better.
